Windows 7 has become the operating system most widely used


Finally, the market share of Windows 7 through the Windows XP, while Apple's Mac OS X also has reached the pass Windows Vista.

According to the latest market share data of Net Applications, operating system Windows 7 has totally overcome Windows XP. August 2012 is also the first month of the market share of Apple Mac OS of Windows Vista. After 1 or 2 years, Mac OS is likely also will pass the Windows XP.

The market share of Windows XP dropped last month meant that the overall market share of Windows decreases with: in the period between September 7-8, 2012 (0.24 percentage point decrease from 92.01% down 91.77%). During the same period, the market share of the Mac OS up 0.16 percentage point (from 6.97% up 7.13%) and market share of Linux 0.08 percentage point increase (from 1.02% to 1.10%).

During the same period, Windows 7 rising 0.51 percentage point (from 42.21% up 42.72%). Meanwhile, Windows Vista reduces 0.45 percentage point (from 6.60% to 6.15%) and Windows XP (0.34 percentage point decrease from 42.52% to 42.86%).


At the end of April 2011, Windows 7 has crossed the landmark 25%. Now this operating system are on their way to conquer the 50% milestone, even though Windows 7 is about to be released (expected on 26/10/2012).

Some people predict that, Windows 7 will become the Windows XP. This means, most Windows users will stick with Windows 7 which does not switch to the new Windows 7, as similar cases between Windows XP and Windows Vista. To counteract this trend, Microsoft will provide Windows 7 price upgrade with only 40 USD.

Microsoft also are doing every thing possible to his clients from Windows XP. Day 14/4/2009, Microsoft has stopped official support for Windows XP and IE6. The company would stop supporting this operating system extension on 8/1/2014.
